We think that fire is the multi-tool of survival techniques. Fire has so many uses. It can be used to boil water, cook food, provide heat and light, deter wild animals, signal rescuers, etc.

A good option for an emergency fire source would be a portable gas stove, but if you live in an apartment, it would not be advisable (and may even be against the apartment's management rules) to store gas in the apartment. Another very good option though, would be to use a charcoal grill (always use outdoors).

You can use your barbecue grill for much more than barbecuing. You can use pots, and other cooking utensils, with you barbecue grill. It is best, though, to not use anything that's too thin.
